Literary and Art Historian, Research Assistant, MA
Metka Lokar graduated in Slovenian Language and Literature and History of Art in 1997 from the University of Ljubljana and received her master's degree in contemporary Slovenian literature - more specifically concrete and visual poetry - in 2006, from the same university. She is currently preparing her doctoral thesis at the University of Nova Gorica within the programme Comparative Study of Ideas and Cultures; her topic is the Slovenes in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.
From 1998 to 2008 she worked at the Centre for Slovene as a Second/Foreign Language at the Department of Slovene Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, in the field of publishing activities as an editor and coordinator. Since 2009 she has been employed at the Slovenian Migration Institute at the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, where she uses a culturological approach to research ethnic and migration dynamics in the area of the former Yugoslavia.
