FootNotes

A new online collection of essays intended as walking-writing meditations
Published on: May 23, 2025

A new online collection of essays titled FootNotes was launched, offering a unique set of pieces conceived as reflections made while walking. The collection brings together a range of genres, from written essays to photo essays, video essays, and so-called anthropoetry. It explores a wide variety of themes such as waterways, migrant routes, infrastructure lines, wandering tales, archaeological traces, Trubarjeva steps, and more.

The project stems from the initiative Route Biographies and features contributions from various authors, including Nataša Rogelja Caf, Jernej Mlekuž, Špela Ledinek Lozej, and Urša Kanjir (all of whom are also members of the editorial board). The FootNotes collection invites researchers, artists, curators, activists, and anyone fond of this way of narrative to participate and contribute. The FootNotes collection is designed as an open platform for new authors and aims to become a meeting point for ideas. Its mission is also to expand the original project and enable further research and creation at the intersection of walking and writing.

Submissions should be written in English and will be reviewed by the editorial board. More information about the submission guidelines can be found here.
