The first and most notable Slovenian emigrants were initially missionaries, and even today, there are over one hundred Slovenian missionaries across the world. Because of their specific role, they were mostly known for their acculturation, as provisioners of cultural paradigms from developed countries to underdeveloped and non-Christian ones. However, the role of an emigrant missionary, who, as an individual has been exposed to the same cultural shocks when arriving to a new society, is less known. This is especially true for modern missionaries who cannot be successful if they are not prepared to emphatize, accommodate and culturally adapt to a new culture - not only in their habits, but in finding ways to approach the culture and religion that they are surrounded in. The project included three stages: 1) a review of literature and previous research; 2) interviews (in Slovenia), as well as other forms of observing the missionaries' fieldwork; 3) an analysis and synthesis of the results. The project's main aim was to observe and write about the current situation of missionaries, as modern, social and cultural anthropology knows no researches into this category of migrants.
