Description

The three-year-long project “Youth and Migration” (YAM), headed by Hans Storhaug (The Norwegian Emigration Center, Stavanger, Norway), falls under the cover of a different project, “Stavanger 2008 – European Capital of Culture”. Thirteen European countries co-operate with the US in the project, with Slovenia’s national coordinator being ISI ZRC SAZU. The two main goals of YAM are to familiarize youth with migration topics and encourage cross-cultural dialogue.

At ISI ZRC SAZU, YAM is being carried out with the financial support of the Republic of Slovenia’s Office for Slovenians Abroad. The project plans to familiarize primary and secondary school pupils and students with migration studies. The common thread of this open-ended and dynamic project is the topic “Slovenians around the world”, presented extensively either during various subjects, or within cross-curricular and extracurricular activities. The works of students (pupils) made during these activities will be publically available, both to the broader European education network, as well as the general public.
