Questioning the borders of the nation: migration and the (de)construction of Yugoslavia (19th – 21st century) (UK – Slovenia bilateral cooperation with the University of Glasgow)

Description

The project seeks to understand the manifold relations between the Yugoslav emigrants and their "homelands". In so doing, it traces the development of transnational relations in a longue durée perspective, as set forth by the project applicants. While the latter tackles similar issues, they have not had the opportunity to participate in joint efforts, confront views and elaborate research.

The aim of the project is to organise workshops (the first one is scheduled for 2024 and will take place in Ljubljana), seminars and meetings. Moreover, it seeks to facilitate mutual acquaintance with research projects and programs, as well as methodologies of work in the field of historiography and migration studies.

Cooperation will take place in the forms as follows: visits by Slovenian partners in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and British partners in the Republic of Slovenia; workshops and working discussion meetings on research project topics, research content and methodological issues; coordination meetings for the joint development of analytical concepts, dissemination of results and initiatives for the development of the Slovenian-British partnership in the field of humanities and social sciences.
