The research project is historically and partly sociologically oriented. It is based on archival and printed materials and on Slovenian and world migration literature. The research project focuses on the major segments of the migration process. It comprises emigration, integration and assimilation of the Slovenians in the new environment and the analyses of contacts between Slovenia and Germany, especially the Ruhr area and Westfalia. The results will be presented during the research, and in the end a bilingual monograph in Slovenian and German language will be published. The results of the research will serve as 1) an enrichment of historical knowledge of migrations in Slovenia and Germany, 2) a source in political decision making process in Slovenia, and 3) contribution to the better understanding between both countries.
